Photo Books

While cleaning out my house I came across tons of old books that I had no reason to keep. No one was interested in them for garage sales, so I decided I would find a way to put them to use. Semi interactive wall art photo books.
As you can probably tell, I like pixel art and photography. I came up with this because it mixes nerdiness, pixel art, photography, and vintage books. The old book covers are fabric and add character to the whole project. The off center book with a tree on it offsets all the plain books. I will leave the inside of that book photo free. Other books offer interesting inside covers in which I need to go through my photos and find ones that will contrast or compliment the inside covers.
- Experimenting with different patterns.
- Book pattern laid out on board so I can trace and cut the backing.
- Tracing the books so I can cut the backing.
- Board cut and ready for the books.
- Fabric added to hide wood backing.
- Books placed on top of fabric, ready to be drilled into place.
- Holes drilled to mount books to the board
- Extra support boards provide sturdiness and depth from the wall.
- Metal wall mounting frame.
- Metal frame attached and foam pads added to prevent wall scuffs
- Magnets added to keep covers closed.
- Clipping the thumbtack.
- Lick and stick photo corners added inside the book covers.
- Photos stored inside book covers.
- Leveled and hung on the wall.
- All done.
- Finalized with photos to display.
- Behind the yellow palm tree book.
- Vintage army inner cover.
- Religious inside cover.
- Now I need to make a nerdy couch…
